Our First Impressions

Serious Nutrition Solutions (SNS) is a supplement company that releases products mainly for athletes, bodybuilders and gym freaks. One of the products from their line, Focus XT, caught our attention for its nootropic-filled formula. Not only can this product be used to improve physical performance at the gym, it can also be used by students and/or employees who want to have that extra edge of focus at their workplace. This product claims to be able to help improve stress levels, improve athletic endurance and of course boost focus. SNS is a company that takes their customer service very seriously, which is honestly quite rare these days and is something we’d like to see more of. We appreciate SNS’ efforts of placing value in their customers, because it makes them a reliable and trustworthy supplement company. But let’s get down to the nitty gritty and talk about how good (or bad!) this product really is.

SNS Focus XT Ingredients

SNS unfortunately presents their ingredient listing under “proprietary blend” meaning we don’t know the exact dose of each substance. Even though this is not something to stress over, we find comfort in companies who are confident enough with their formula and are not hesitant to share with the world what they pack in each serving.

Focus XT does come in powder form, making it the perfect pre-workout blend. Each scoop contains:

  • Choline Bitartrate

A form of choline mixed with a bit of salt (to improve absorption in the body). Although choline in general is very beneficial towards our muscles and memory capacity, specifically Choline Bitartrate is not as effective as Alpha GPC or CDP Choline in terms of being a choline source.

  • L-Tyrosine

Boosts energy and increases mental alertness.

  • Acetyl-L-Carnitine

Reduces fatigue and improves overall energy levels.

  • DMAE (Dimethylaminoethanol Bitartrate)
May improve memory and focus but has been banned in U.S., Canada and Australia for potentially causing cell death when used in the long term.
  • Vinpocetine

Increases blood flow to the brain and allows improved focus.

Used to improve learning abilities and boost overall cognitive function.

  • Caffeine

This stimulant works effectively to improve energy levels and increase mental alertness. However, those who are sensitive to caffeine may experience jitters or hyperactivity with the 200 mg of it packed in each Focus XT scoop.

Other Reviews

“SNS Focus (Cttn Cndy) was decent for me. I used SNS Focus as a pick-me-up in the a.m. Took it both before breakfast and after with the same relative effectiveness. It did give me increased energy and mental alertness; but not sustaining for most of the morn. Neither, did SNS give me the verbal command that I’ve gotten w/similar products. SNS did however, gave me dry-mouth, everytime; whether taken before or after breakfast. Giving SNS an overall 6/10 because of just effectiveness (not lasting and no enhancement in verbal acuity) and side-effects.”

  • Fleximus on

“While this products ingredients aren’t bad this flavor is horrid. Not only does it not taste good, but it completely stains your teeth and tongue making them blue. After a few weeks my powder all clumped together in a gooey mess. No matter how hard I shook the bottle nothing helped because it was not just a regular powder that clumped together. It was a disgusting mess. I just threw my bottle in the garbage today. I wish I could get a refund.”

Pro’s and Con’s

  • May increase focus and energy for some
  • Price is affordable
  • Is beneficial for those looking to lose weight or get fit

  • Flavor is not the best
  • Includes a banned substance (DMAE)
  • High caffeine dose (may be bad for those sensitive to caffeine)

Cost and Summary of SNS Focus XT

A tub of Focus XT comes with 30 servings and costs $39.95. You are recommended to mix 1 scoop with 8 oz of water (or whichever liquid your heart desires) 30 minutes before beginning the task requiring the boost of energy and focus. The price is a little bit more expensive than other supplements but considering that the formula is designed to increase both mental and physical energy, some would consider this totally worthwhile. Although this product doesn’t come with the best flavor, finish your serving by taking a few quick gulps and it will be bearable. We would also like to warn those sensitive to caffeine that this product does include 200 mg of it, so be wary of potential jitters! If you are concerned with the banned substance included in this product then feel free to check out some other cognitive enhancing supplements available, such as our top 5 picks!
